บาห์เรน เตรียมจัดหา แอมแรม ซี-7 จากอเมริกา
WASHINGTON: On July 27, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible foreign military sale to the Government of Bahrain of 25 AIM-120C-7 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) and associated equipment, parts and services at an estimated cost of $74 million.
The Government of Bahrain has requested a possible sale of 25 AIM-120C-7 AMRAAMs, missile containers, spare and repair parts, support and test equipment, publications and technical documentation, personnel training and training equipment, U.S. Government and contractor engineering, technical and logistics support services, and other related elements of logistical and program support. The estimated cost is $74 million.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a major non-NATO ally that has been, and continues to be, an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.
The proposed sale will improve Bahrains capability to meet current and future threats of enemy air-to-air weapons. Bahrain will use the enhanced capability as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defense.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.
The prime contractor will be Raytheon Missile Systems Corporation, Tucson, Arizona. There are no known offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
Implementation of this proposed sale will require bi-annual trips to Bahrain involving six U.S. Government and four contractor representatives for program management reviews over a period of up to five years.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.
This notice of a potential sale is required by law. It does not mean that the sale has been concluded.

ซาอุดิอาราเบีย เตรียมจัดหา A330 MRTT แท็งเคอร์ จำนวน3เครื่อง

MADRID: The Saudi Ministry of Defence and Aviation (MODA) has ordered three additional A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) for the Royal Saudi Air Force, bringing its total order to six aircraft. Saudi had signed a first contract for three back in 2008. Delivery of the first aircraft is due in 2011.
The six aircraft will be configured with hose and drogue under-wing pods and the Airbus Military Air Refuelling Boom System (ARBS). The contract includes an in-service support package.
Saudi Arabias decision consolidates the A330 MRTT position as the benchmark in the multi role tanker transport aircraft market. Airbus Military is responsible for the design and production of the MRTTs, and hereby positioned as a key worldwide supplier in the field of tanking, mission and transport aircraft.
We are grateful to the Royal Saudi Air Force for their renewed confidence in our products. The repeated selection from such a demanding customer confirms the superiority of Airbus Military in providing the best air-to-air refuelling solutions, said Domingo Ureña, CEO of Airbus Military. Airbus Military is definitively well ahead and leading with a really outstanding product that is already in production, Mr Ureña added.
The Airbus Military A330 MRTT is the most advanced and most cost-effective Multi Role Tanker Transport existing today. The large 111,000 kg/245,000 lb basic fuel capacity of the successful A330-200 airliner, from which it is derived, enables the A330 MRTT to excel in Air-to-Air refuelling missions without any additional fuel tanks. The A330 MRTT is offered with a choice of proven air refuelling systems including an advanced aerial refuelling boom system, and/or hose and drogue wing, pods and/or fuselage refuelling unit.
Thanks to its true wide-body fuselage, the A330 MRTT can also be used as a pure transport aircraft able to carry up to 380 passengers or a payload of up to 45 tons / 99,000 lb. It can also easily be converted to accomodate up to 130 stretchers for Medical Evacuation (MEDEVAC).
In summary the A330 MRTT is the most efficient aircraft of its kind as reflected by the fact that it won the last five competitions (Australia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, as well as the US Air Force, although the latter selection was subsequently suspended). Orders for the A330 MRTT now total 28 aircraft.

Royal Navy of Oman Vessel (RNOV) Al Shamikh, being designed and built by BVT Surface Fleet in Portsmouth, has today (Wednesday) been formally named during a Launching Ceremony in Portsmouth Naval Base by His Highness AL Sayyed Haitham bin Tariq Al Said.
The event was also attended by UK Minister for Defence Equipment & Support, Quentin Davies, Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis Al-Raisi, Commander Royal Navy of Oman and senior representatives from the Royal Navy.
This corvette, the first of three 99-metre vessels under Project Khareef, is designed to meet and augment RNO operational capabilities. It has the endurance and ability to operate for long periods in high seas and the capability to embark a helicopter during deployment.
Project Khareef is considered a landmark project for the RNO and this class of vessel will be the most advanced of their type in the world when completed. They are also believed to be the first ships ever to be built in Portsmouth Naval Base specifically for an overseas navy.
Speaking after the launch, Chief Executive of BVT Surface Fleet, Alan Johnston said: "Project Khareef confirms BVTs standing as one of the worlds leading exporters of naval ships and the naming of RNOV Al Shamikh today is another milestone in the long and successful relationship that BVT enjoys with Oman. Moreover, it is a mark of the special relationship and close co-operation built on friendship and trust, which Oman and Great Britain have enjoyed for many years.
"We have been building ships for the RNO for over 30 years and are delighted to be building these impressive, state-of-the art vessels that will considerably enhance the capability of the Royal Navy of Oman".
Background Information
